Established in 1976, under the aegis of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), the National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA) is India's leading think tank on urban planning and development. The institute has been paving the way towards transforming India's urban narrative through action research, advocacy, capacity building, knowledge dissemination and finding innovative solutions for India's urban challenges. Over these years, NIUA has emerged as a thought leader, sought out by Indian and international organisations for collaboration and for upscaling research and development in areas crucial to creating sustainable, inclusive, and productive cities.
