THE ENERGY & RESOURCE INSTITUTE (TERI)
TERI, formally established in 1974, is a unique research institution that is deeply committed to every aspect of sustainable development and works on sustainability issues across a range of subjects such as transportation sector, energy and emission, and environment and climate change.
TERI’s Centre for Sustainable Mobility (CSM) has been working in various segments in the field of transportation. It includes long distance transport, aspects of urban passenger mobility and logistics, and modelling and projections for transport demand – both in the passenger and freight businesses. CSM has an extensive experience in the field of transportation, including electric vehicles (EVs).
In the Urban Freight segment, CSM completed a study titled Roadmap for electrification of the urban freight sector in India in 2020. In addition, CSM is currently engaging with city authorities and private sector stakeholders for deployment of clean technology solutions for urban freight in Surat and Bengaluru under the project titled Sustainable Urban Freight Initiative (Urban Freight Cost and Emission Reduction Guidance Facility). Besides deploying electric vehicles as pilot, the aim is to create a Sustainable Urban Freight Coalition (SUFC) under the ongoing project.
